Cocktail Contest Winners.

Thursday afternoon we had a contest...a COCKTAIL contest, and if you missed it,
well all I can say is, poor baby, you missed a great time!
We had eleven would-be bartenders show off their mixology skills, and dramatic flair.
The tables were decorated with everything from bright colors, teddy bears,
and Valentine candy to pirate booty, tropical ambiance and fruit.
The judges were a hoot. They really got into the spirit, shall we say.
All the recipes for the fun and tasty libations will be published in the Sandpiper Cookbook.
You have until the end of this month to give your recipes (hand written is fine) to
Lisette #15, Sue #38, Sue #37, Donna L #221, or Louise #428.
You'll want to be in this cookbook!
It will have some great recipes, sure, but beyond that it will trigger
fond memories of people and events. There will be a sliding pricing scale...in other words,
the more you buy the cheaper they become. There is a sign-up sheet in the pavilion.
The cookbook will be printed sometime in March/April.
If it doesn't get back before you leave you can pick it up next season or
we can mail it to you for the cost of postage.
Here are the judges results.
Best Liqueur Cocktail-Sue and Jim Z #38-Limoncello

Best Motivator-Sue and John P #37-The Mounds

Best Coco Loco-Bob H #36-Pina Colada

Most Romantic on Beach-Dave and Sandy J-#48 Easy Street Sundowner

Most Sneaky-Donna L #221-Brandy Slush Puppies

Best Panty Puller-Ron and Donna #204-Smurf Pizz

Best use of a Controlled Substance-Ellen and Sandy #412/#414-Long Island Tea

Most Precarious Use of Rum-Ian and Terry #502-Strawberry Daiquiri

Most Splendiferous Tale-Marilyn and Tom #420-Pirates Punch

Best Use of Freudian Slips-Bob W #34-Vodka Berry Slurpie

Healthiest Way to Get Laid-Irwin and Margaret #332-Caesar Cocktail

Peoples’ Choice award was very close as there were many contenders and the
winner was the Healthiest Way to Get Laid-Irwin & Margaret!

All involved seem to have lots of fun including judges Jan and George who
sampled all drinks in 25 minutes then sat down to deliberate and
wait for the buzz to catch up, which it did (hehe).
Then we had to go back and confirm our decisions which,
of course, involved more sampling.
We were both glowing and feeling no pain by the end.

Somewhere back there in a previous blog it says there is to be a prime rib contest on Jan 28th. I just went scouting around trying to fine the winner and can't find it. Is this supposed to be February 28th? If so, good luck to the chefs and happy eating everyone.
The cocktail contest sounded like a lot of fun...anyone sobered up yet?

Would you believe, Helen, despite umpteen comments on that blog, proof reading by me and countless others, a few "nerds" who revel in my itty bitty mistakes of spelling and/or grammar...despite all that, you are the first and only person to find that error.

The prime rib showdown is the celebratory end of the Nude Olympics...END of Feb. Thanks for bringing to my attention (from the other side of the world, no less) I've fixed it.

Yes Helen most of the crowd is sober now. We have even had some of the extras brought to happy hour for those of us lucky enough to be in attendance. It was a great time enjoyed by all and already asking about next years event. Maybe it should be every other year.
