Forum Recap

Friday was one of Sandpiper's info forums to catch us up on rules & regs,
and address any new problems or concerns.
It was fairly well attended and even tho I've been to several in the past, I continue to learn a new thing or two.
To clarify the water restrictions:
These restrictions ARE NOT just a Sandpiper whim.
They are mandated by the City of Edinburg, who monitor the flow.
Edinburg has become the leading Texas city in water conservation and they are serious about it!
If you habitually ignore the water rules...
(water only on even days, not in the heat of the day, and use nozzles and common sense not to waste water...actual rules are in the office...get a copy)
...here are the repercussions that Karen & Jay face:
1. Written warning
2. Must attend rationing classes
3. $200 fine (which gets passed down folks!)
4. Disconnect of our water!
So conserve!
*********
Have all vendors and guests register at the office...coming and going!
And if you run down to the gate to let them in because they can't figure out how to push a button...well, they still have to register.
Try to make sure all vendors are here before 6pm....exceptions happen, of course, but try.
*****
Slow down!
10 miles an hour.
Bikes...and carts...and walkers...BE CAREFUL ESPECIALLY AT CORNERS...
(the office corner is a death trap waiting to happen!Who does this remind you of?
*
Be on GUARD!
We don't want any accidents!*****************
The second dumpster will be opened up at the end of the month,
but a big THANK YOU to all those who have made a huge effort to recycle.
It shows.
The Angel cart is a big success and has helped reduce bulky items in the dumpster.
Once a month, on a Junque & Java weekend, it'll be back.
The valley is playing catch-up with the rest of the country in recycling and waste management.
We know what to do to reduce the massive landfills and reuse our resources...let's do it!
*
Thanks to Ron & Gloria, Karen & Bill, Mike & Sharon, we have volunteers to
run the recyclables over to the Closner Center (near Dr. V's office)
but if you can volunteer an occasional trip they would kiss your feet!
And another big THANK YOU for using the walking path to the dumpster.
We need the exercise!
*
When you dump, either at the recyclable center or at the mulch pile,
remove your plastic bags.
And when you dump into the dumpster, tie your plastic bags tightly...
icky bugs, otherwise!
Oh, and crush everything!
Plastics, cans, etc. not only for the recyclable center but for the dumpster, too!
*****
Check your smoke detector batteries
AND TEST THEM!!****
Darbi & Terry are organizing an effort to get us a defibrillator.
Good thing to have in a community of old geezers.
*****
A few more....
Don't post on the activities board without checking with Jon first.
*
The bulletin board to the right of the pavilion door is for whatever
you want to sell, or need, or advertise.
Date your notice and make sure your name or lot number is on it.
It will be cleaned out every month, but you can post again, if needed.
*
Park equipment, like lawn mowers, etc., can be borrowed,
but ask first, and return by end of day.
*
If you need something done fill out a work order at the office, or email Karen at enjoylife@sandpipersresort.com or drop it in the black box outside the office door.
*
And Finally!
All these rules and regs are written down in a nice little packet at the office.
If you have mislaid your copy, or never knew we had rules, pick up a copy anytime.
****
We want a safe and beautiful home filled with congenial people.
Done!

Sue you will never cease to amaze me with your blogging expertise! Thank you for the great forum review. I believe you got that hour nicely wrapped up. If anyone would like a copy of my presentation, please send me an email and we will get the "long technical version" out to you. And most of all, THANK YOU to the world's best nudists -- our Sandpiper Family residents.

Great Forum, Karen. I'm sure most of us have heard the rules before, unfortunately, even some who have heard the rules and even have a copy, don't always follow them. Come on my friends and family, lets all grow up. Sandpipers is what it is because we are special people who give graciously and courteously. Wouldn't it be nice if Karen didn't have to rehash the rules for once?
