Canadian Challenge at VolleyBall!

CAN-USA

CHALLENGE

Canadians of the nude persuasion sympathize with our American colleagues
over the humiliating losses suffered by the TEAM USA men and women on the hockey rink during the recent Winter Olympics.

Being magnanimous sports-persons, the Canadian contingent
at Sandpipers offers our American friends a chance of redemption.

On Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 1:00 pm,
Team Canada challenges Team USA to a water volleyball tournament.

Team Canada consists of a woman’s team, a men’s team, and 2 co-ed teams.
At least four games will be played to determine an international champion!

TEAM CANADA:
If there are any Canadians in the resort who have not been contacted to play for their country, and who would like to participate, please speak to Ian at Lot 502.

Otherwise, please come out and support your team with your Canadian Flags!

TEAM USA:
Persons wishing to play for Team USA should contact Rich at Lot 431, or sign up in the pavilion.

Otherwise, please come out and support your team with your American Flags!

Sorry, but 27th is the confirmed date!

And we hear rumors that some folks think that this event is too competitive (but have not come forward to the organizer to voice their concern), so lets be clear. THIS IS A FUN EVENT, BUT SOME HIGH-SPIRITED RIVALRY IS ENCOURAGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not worried about too much competition...We have such great folks at Sandpiper's who recognize volleyball is FUN!

Down he-ah in the South, hockey is way down on our list of favorite sports. I think it's because we don't really know the rules. Like, what IS icing the puck, anyway? Besides, it's cold in those arenas! I've been to one hockey game in Ft. Worth, TX about 30 or 40 years ago. In the first 10 minutes of play, the puck came off the ice, into the stands, and hit a man near us in the forehead, leaving him bleeding profusely. He was escorted down the stairs for first aid but returned soon afterward with a big blood-stained bandage on his head. He returned to his seat and watched the rest of the game. Now, that's a real fan!
My husband then warned me to watch the puck at all times. I don't remember who won the game or even who was playing, but I sure got acquainted with that puck! Congratulations to Canada anyway for your Olympic achievement.

Thank you,Patsy, for the congrats.

Stevie & I hope to be at Sandpipers next winter. I would be pleased to explain the game of hockey to you at any time. As with most Canadian boys, I grew up with it. Over the years, I have played, refereed, coached, managed and been an executive.

We have Canadian satelite TV so we can watch and I can interpret.

We look forward to ya'll coming back next year. You've been missed!
Thanks for the offer to explain hockey to me. However, let me warn you--I attended ALL of my son's YMCA (think: little guys) soccer games for YEARS in all kinds of weather. I never understood the game, particularly "off-sides". My son was the goalie, and I was constantly tense that he would allow a goal, especially on a penalty shot.
But I'll give it a try. Hope to see you and Stevie soon.

Thank you, Patsy.

Perhaps you & Garland with Stevie & I could attend a game in the valley - not the same caliber as we would see on TV - but live!!

We have to learn to keep Stevie healthy so we can return to Sandpipers next winter and econnect with all our frioends there.

Yes, keep Stevie healthy! That would be fun to go to a game--I'm a visual learner rather than an audio one, so I would get a lot more out of SEEING a game rather than HEARING about the sport of hockey. Let's all stay healthy enough to do that.
Take care and say hi to Stevie.
