Lester's LollaPalloza of a Birthday Party!

Last night was a happening! An EVENT in capital letters!
Lester's 85th Birthday Bash, attended by, oh, I don't know, a gazillion people? It was a true highlight of the season. An imaginative committee organized by Bev spent the week brainstorming decorating ideas and practising.
I think he was a little surprised! One of the many highlights was Marilyn Monroe singing in her trademark breathy voice. Remember Marilyn singing to President Kennedy? Well, you could hardly tell the difference! The decorations were terrific. Due to some creative thinking by Joy and the nimble fingers of Annie, Joey and the two Sues, a throne appeared complete with crown and scepter.
The lighted birthday sign was drilled...with 99 teeny tiny holes, by Jim Z. And all those balloons? Blown up by Bill W. Well, at least he held the compressor.
Lisette, Bob H., John P. and Jon L. joined the rest of us to decorate the pavilion. Despite the already existing Christmas decorations, it truly did look special for Lester's birthday.
Lester provided a catered dinner with many folks bringing extra sides to create quite a feast.
The trusty kitchen crew, Tom & Ellen, Margaret & Irwin, and George & Pauline...oh, and Jon L. too, did an excellent job of serving all the scrumptious food.

Sue P. was so convincing she electrified the crowd and the Great Marilyn Wannabe Contest developed soon after.Even Lester went for the wig, though I'm getting more of a Harpo Marx vibe.
It did bring out a side of Mary #5 that will not soon be forgotten! Ruthie serenaded us all afternoon and evening. What a fabulous entertainer! We are so lucky to have found Ruthie and been able to book her for some unforgettable evening's entertainment.
Lester tries and tries, and tries again, to cut the cake that Bob D. baked. Apparently Bev's baking lessons were not successful as the knife kept bouncing off the cake. Lester received many birthday cards and gag gifts and enjoyed reading them with Bev's help.Lester, what a wonderful birthday party. We all enjoyed great entertainment, a delicious dinner and free flowing wine and beer. How are you gonna top this on your 90th?
