Celebrate Bob with a Party at Pepe's!

Bob & Sue have been making friends and enjoying the Rio Grande Valley

as members of Sandpiper's Resort for 8 years.

Golf was an obsession. How many stories have I heard about his...shall we say,

passion... on the golf course?

He never missed a happy hour. Life of the party, that's our Bob!

8 years.

Long enough for them to make lasting friends.

Long enough for them to make an impact on the community outside our gate.

Long enough for us to feel his absence from the park.

They have made no secret of his fight with Alzheimer's.

They have attacked it with tenacity and with humor.

Visiting friends and family is still a highlight.

Bob is now living at The Bridges of Mission, an assisted living environment,

but he welcomes friends to visit and enjoys outings with Sue.

This Saturday will be an outing to remember, and if he can't remember, we'll do it for him!

Join Bob, Sue and his friends from Sandpipers to celebrate his 75th birthday in style, at Pepe's!

We will gather at 1pm, to get his birthday started.
Live music at 2...dancing & frivolity, much food & drink consumed!
Bob may need a nap afterward....

Several people have asked about gifts. Sue says he doesn't need a thing, but if you would like to donate goods or money to the 1st Lutheran Church Food Pantry she would be happy to deliver to them. Good used clothing, bedding, towels, and food, of course, are really needed. Bob, and others from Sandpiper's, volunteered for years to help the food pantry, the only one in Edinburg. See Sue at lot# 222 if you would like to donate in Bob's name.

So...come drink a beer with Bob at Pepe's on Saturday, Nov. 29th, 1 pm.

Cheers! And Happy Birthday, Bob!

Now here's a man who really knows his beer! And know it well, he does... Just talk suds with Bob, and you can see his smile light up the whole room. Saturday will be special for Bob and Sue, but maybe more so for those of us who select to share this special occasion with him, and the memories he brings to us! Congrats to SueR and SueZ who covered it all with style in the blog!

We'll not be there because of the long commute.
Nevertheless, our greetings go to Bob on his achievement of 75 years. And wishes to Sue as well.

Ding How!!! And "how" we will be sad to miss your 75th birthday. We have toasted and loved you since the day you made Susan Jean your lovely bride more than two decades ago. We will miss you on Saturday but will FORCE OURSELVES to drink a tall, frosty one in your honor. When we get there in mid-December we will go out and enjoy a toddy and celebrate in style. Cheers Bobby Robert! Les and Janet

This beautiful invitation to join Bob and Sue (and to get to know Bob for those who haven't had the very real pleasure) is an example of how love begets more love. Thanks Sue Z, this is just swell. And thanks to Sue Ross and Bob for the many ways they, too, make Sandpipers a great place to live.

Our first time here was saved by Sue Ross, as was my life and our marriage, I think. It was that nasty year three years ago, it had been cold and rainy for a month, we had been shivering at Live Oak on an exploratory trip to Texas and got imprisoned by the ice storm, we staggered South and I got sicker and sicker. There was one lot open at Sandpipers, it was almost under water on the 200 row, Kenn helped get the rig on boards on the site and I went to bed for the next three days. The day after we got here, Sue came over from across the street and said to Paul, "I see you are still hooked up, Bob and I are going out for groceries, can we bring you anything?" It was such a kind offer, it gave me hope that we might get through the winter without starving to death....and we clearly did. Thanks to both Sues for making this such a welcoming, special, and loving place.
