Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Area Bicycle Ride is ON-Feb 16

The Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Area Bicycle Ride is ON!  The weather forecast for Port Isabel calls for temperatures near 70 all day with light winds so it should be quite nice for a bicycle ride.

A reminder - bring a picnic lunch.  We will eat lunch at the observation tower while on the ride.  Bring plenty of water.  Insect repellant and sun screen are advisable.  Binoculars and a camera will be useful if you want the best views of any wildlife.  The loop along Laguna Madre has always provided some excellent opportunities to see birds.

We'll leave the gate at 9:00 a.m.  The trip will be a little longer this
time as the roads on the direct route are under construction. We'll have to go via Hwy 100 toward Port Isabel before turning north to Laguna Atascosa.

There is a fee for admission to the National Wildlife Refuge.  US
citizens can get in with their Senior Pass to the US National Parks.
For others I believe the fee is $5.00.
