On the banks of the Rio Grande in Southern Colorado...
We are FINALLY out of the Canadian Rockies.
Love the scenery...turquoise river, BEARS! Elk!
Snow capped mountains everywhere!
But.. gosh almighty... has my blood been thinned by umpteen years in the south.
It has
rained..
sleeted...
drizzled...
SNOWED on us
for many ....MANY...days!
Too cold to venture outside....

We are finally out of the Rockies and sliding down to the coast.

Warmer temps.

Gold mine towns.

Historic trading posts.

But...did I mention the cost of alcohol?

How could anybody be an alcoholic in Canada, I ask you?

We bought ...

2 boxes of wine (4 liters each) ...

and a bottle of rum

and a bottle of gin. Cost?

Wait for it...

$145.00

$145.00!!

Carey Nation is alive and well in Canada!

Sue, in a word it's taxes. taxes and more taxes. Someone has to pay for the health care system!

What health care system - takes 3 months just to get an appointment to see a GP!

And we've heard Canada's health system touted as an example of what ours could be one day. Gee, I sure hope not.
