As we do the poor man's cruise on the ferry and drive around Alaska

we are seeing gorgeous scenery...

but nothing (so far) that compares to this picture from Dave & Mary's Alaskan adventure in 2008.

Mary snapped this photo of the Rainbow Mountains

from the side window of a moving vehicle as we headed back to their home in North Pole (Fairbanks)

from the Valdez salmon-fishing expedition in August 2008.

This was on scenic Richardson Highway (Alaska 4).

It was a totally overcast day.

Imagine what the colors would have been with sunshine on them!
