LD's Bug Solution...Can You Hear Me Now?

Larry Dean write articles for a big rig club to which he belongs...
here is something you might be able to use.....
****************
A short time ago a member asked for a solution for small birds and other pests
building nests in the nooks and cranny's of their RV.
I know this works on spiders, insects, and bees;
even Texas Horn Flies do not like them. They should keep about anything away. (yep, no elephants lately either)

About 15 years ago a Texas rancher with a 5th wheel told me to use insecticide cattle ear tags.
I was storing my unit then and ear tags eliminated
my mud dobber and spider problems.
I hang the ear tags with zip ties in each basement, service vents,
on each side of the generator (close to where our feet would be)
and anywhere spiders love to build,
even up under my dash in the wiring.
In the engine compartment depends on whether you are full-time
(away from heat) or storing or stopped for several weeks
then place in the BUGS favorite nooks and crannies.

I use the Avenger brand of ear tags as they work against insects that are even pyrethroid resistant. (same as we use on ranch cattle)
They may be found at any Farm and Ranch supply store or at www.cattlestore.com or simply Google; Avenger ear tags, to compare prices. They are not cheap in small quantities, about $35.00 a box (20 tags).

ARE THEY SAFE? The Avenger ear tag contains 30% Endosulfan which the EPA is phasing out, at least for use on vegetable crops, cotton, and various crop pest control. It has not been associated with cancer but in its sprayed form "May effect honey bees and other worthwhile insects". In India (not banned) it is sprayed liberally to control Tsetse flies and other insects, and has been questioned regarding birth defects. However, for over 50 years in its solid form they have been directly attached to the skin of cattle, changed every 6 months for life, with no birthing effect or contamination of the meat supply.

Currently, I am unaware if they will eventually be banned as an ear tag, so you may wish to load up on them (as we will on the ranch) or you could buy a brand substitute if Endosulfan concerns you.
