St. Pat's Day 5K Race

We had quite a representation from Sandpipers at the 

Pharr 5K (3.1 miles) race on March 16th.  

13 SandPeeps raced!

  

Marijanne and Duane won first place in their respective age groups.  Dorothee won 2nd and Elsie won third in their age group. 

All four of them won very nice trophies.  In addition Marijanne and Duane each won $50 cash for finishing in first place.

The other racers from our park were Lucie, Barb, Cindy, Steve, Bob, Sam, Carolyn, Garry and Marilyn...

way to go! We are all so proud!

There were over 800 runners and walkers in this 7th annual race.  Last year there were about 300 participants.

This was the 6th race Sandpipers runners and walkers competed in since early January.  They have won many medals and trophies and everyone who competes receives a t-shirt from that race.

Next winter we will encourage more runners and walkers to compete.  It was a lot of fun and a very healthy activity.
