Spring Beer Fest

Spring Beer Fest

Monday, March 13
Sites 36 & 37

4 pm til the last body rolls home!

Everyone is invited! The whole park-tell your friends!

*1. Bring 2 unusual, unique, or foreign beers (per person).

*2. Bring your own chairs. Apartment dwellers-chairs will be reserved for you!
*3. This is a Super Happy Hour so bring incredible and delicious food...from appetizers to main dishes, even desserts! (electricity is available for crock pots).

*4. Parking golf carts is limited so park only on left or right side of the road leaving a car pass-thru...and for Heaven's sake, don't park in the field or you'll disappear forever!!!!!

A significant change this year.
No male pourers, just beer maids.

Many of the die hard beer tasters have expressed a true interest in having beer maids do the pours and as John wants no beer left over and we have more cups than ever...and each drinker has two hands-a cup for each hand!-and the ladies can really sell it!...'no beer leftover' shouldn't be a problem!

Annie's shot of the day!

That’s our Annie in the photo.  She had just put the ball in the cup on the 14th hole at Terra del Sol golf course.  Here’s the story.
This was during the 2017 FITS (Fun in the Sun) Scramble Golf Tournament on February 13.  Annie was on Team #6, with Bob D, Tom B, and Bev (Natures).  In a scramble, each person hits, then you take the best ball (with some restrictions) and everyone on the team hits from that location for the next shot.  This continues for the entire 18 holes of the tournament.
When our team reached the 14th hole, Bob and Tom hit their balls into a row of trees alongside the cart path.  Bev hit his ball well down the course, stopping about 5 yards short of the lake you see in the picture.  Annie’s tee shot was short so we chose to use Bev’s shot for our second shot.  Each of the men hit and we had three dry balls near but not on the green.  The shot across the water was about 85 yards and the GPS reading for center of green was 110 yards so there wasn’t much room to play with.  Annie took her shot last.  She hit a fine shot, arching high over the water, it landed just short of the front edge of the green.  It bounced several times and then rolled across the green, curving slightly, toward the flag.  As it reached the cup, Annie exclaimed, “The ball disappeared!”  Indeed, it had!  Annie had put our second shot on the par four hole in the cup for an eagle, 2 under par for the hole.
That put us at 4 under par for the tournament with only four holes to go.  We bogeyed the last two holes and completed the tournament 2 under par which was good enough for a first-place finish.  Each member of Team #6 received a coupon for a free round of golf, thanks to Annie’s shot of the day, 110 yards and into the cup!

Change Notice for Bicycle Ride for March 7, 2017

Change Notice for Bicycle Ride for March 7, 2017

After careful consideration our bicycle ride for Tuesday, March 7, 2017 has been changed to Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.  Our previous ride would have been impacted by spring break on South Padre Island so we're opting for a quieter ride and a ride which is a favorite for our group.  We will ride the 14 mile Bayside loop.  We will stop for lunch at the Laguna Madre overlook.  Pack a sack lunch.  The ride is about 2/3 on paved surface with the remaining being good gravel road.  Wind can be a challenge on this ride, most of the ride is north/south so strong winds from either north or south make the ride more challenging.  We usually see a variety of birds and other wildlife on this ride.  Come join us for one of our most interesting rides we schedule each year.

Tom and Louise Butler

Bring water, insect repellant, sun screen and binoculars and/or camera for this ride.  We will depart the Sandpipers gate at 9:00 a.m.

Bingo info and a missing pool cue...

Well, no winner last Sunday so this Sunday the Progressive Cover all Jackpot should be somewhere around $300.

Come early and get your bingo card as there are only a limited number of cards available and when they are gone that's it!

The cost is $4.50 per card for the night. This includes 10 regular Bingo games, one cover-all and one progressive cover-all.

This week there will be no more than 61 numbers called.

Sunday Feb. 26...Bingo starts at 7pm in Jakz.

So come by and have some Bingo fun!
***********************
The pool cue has been returned and I am very grateful. It was a case of mistaken identity (someone took my cue and left theirs) and not intentional.

A blue inlaid McDermott pool cue is missing from the pool rack in Jakz. The cue was last used this past Sunday afternoon. This cue is the personal cue of Earle and was given to him by his daughter so in addition to being a great cue it has sentimental value.  Please return to the pool rack if you moved or removed  it.

YOU MUST ATTEND or you will have missed a fabulous performance of style, talent and diva delishesness!

We attended a rehearsal today because Jim and I will be in New Orleans next week for a Mardi Gras family reunion.  The rehearsal was just great, but with costumes will be over the top!
I don't want to give anything away, but I will tell you I've been singing since the show was over...songs that brought back wonderful memories. One little tidbit hint...see if you'll be able to tell who's who under those wigs!!
