2 on 2 Weeners!

Yes, SandPeeps!
We have the Weeners of
Olympic 2 on 2 Water Volleyball Competition.

It was a hoot and a half to play and to watch!

There was atleticism,
pathos,
pschological warfare...

and the results....

Gold = Terry & Jon

Silver = Annie & Rich

Bronze = Diane & Pierre

Thanks to everyone who participated, and especially to Frank & John 5 for linemen, and Dave for the sound system...and Ian for running the show and putting up with all us prima donnas!

Attention!

OK!
Tuesday is the much awaited 2 on 2 water volleyball event.
It is a Sadie Hawkins event
 and I tell you...
I have MUCH appreciation for every teenage boy
looking for a prom date.
When I couldn't take anymore rejection my date stepped forward!
But I digress....
that is not the topic of this discussion.
This discussion is on...
gasp...
wife swapping!
It has come to my attention that a certain couple
 who shall not be named
(Annie & Bill)
 have exchanged partners for the
2 on 2 water volleyball tournament
with another certain unnamed couple
(Richie & Judy)!
Triple gasp!
Wife Swapping.
They should be shunned...
or maybe just applauded.
Wish I'd thought of it.

Lunch...Burgers, Bratwurst and Memory Loss!

Lunch for starving Sandpeeps!
Wednesday, February 29,
we will have hamburgers instead of bratwurst.

On Saturday, March 3
(can you believe it's March already?)
 we will have the bratwurst.
Please stop by Don & V's Lot #308, to sign up,
 as we won't remember
if you tell us at the pool, etc.
Don has a bad case of CRS!!!!

All future lunches will be served poolside weather permitting!!

March Book Club Change

The March bookclub
(I Still Dream of You by Fannie Flagg)
will be held the 3rd Thursday of the month, not the 2nd.

This change is due to our grand Sandpipers' Nude Olympics.
The date is the only thing to have changed.
But we will be meeting on the 15th, not the 8th.
We are getting lots of good ideas for books to choose from.
Be sure to cast your vote!
 See you then.
Thanks, Louise

We Have A Winner!

Bernie won 3rd place in the Challenge Category at the
Rio Grande Valley Quilt Show yesterday.

She was really surprise and REALLY Happy to win.
It is her 30's quilt and was on display
at our Art Walk last weekend.
Congratulations Bernie...well deserved!

Movie of the Week

WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
FEBRUARY 29th @ 7:00 PM
BRING A BEVERAGE AND SOME POPCORN AND ENJOY

Hank (Steve Zahn) and his partner Charlie mistakenly decide to answer a cancelled call to check on an alarm at a warehouse. When they arrive on the scene they split up and Charlie comes under fire, Hank tries to save him but Charlie ends up being shot by one of the assailants. On the other hand there is Earl (Martin Lawrence) who is attempting to pass through Police Academy, but is just too much of a showoff for his own good. The two meet on the street as Earl tries to get in to his locked car, Hank accosts him thinking that he is a thief. Through some bumbling and misunderstanding Hank is relieved of his duty as a cop and spends some time in jail, all thanks to Earl. Before long though, the two of them end up on the case trying to determine who killed Charlie together, but as security guards, which is something that Hank has always detested. They discover that the killer's name is Nash (Eric Roberts) and they go after him with a vengeance. Will they end up with more than they can handle, or will the two 'National Security' security guards end up solving the case and saving the day?

Olympic Changes...BRRR!

From Mount Olympus:
Just can't imagine why no one wants to play
Co-ed Olympic Volleyball
tomorrow! LOL!!

So, yes, it has been officially cancelled
and re-scheduled for March 4th at 1:30 til finish.

AND... anyone who is signed up and CANNOT play on March 4,
or anyone who is not signed up who can play on March 4,
need to contact Ian to remove or add names to the team rosters.

Because of this,
wiffle ball golf will now be held on
March 2nd at 2:00 instead of March 4th.

Lester's Surprise!

Lester checked off a good one from his bucket list!
A hole-in-one on the 14th hole of Los Lagos!
Not to shabby for a guy who picked up his first club when he was 67 years old...21 years ago!
His golfing buddies commemorated the event
 with a big group photo.
Fortunately a flock of wild golf balls were flying by at the time.
Strategic little spheres, aren't they?
Congrats Lester.
Well done!

BRING A BEVERAGE AND SOME POPCORN AND ENJOY
The movie is about Danny Roman (Samuel L. Jackson), a well known police negotiator, who is trying to prove his innocence. Danny is being framed and accused of murder and embezzlement. In order to find out who is behind this plot against him, Danny decides to take hostages. Knowing all there is to know about negotiation, Danny is able to get a fellow negotiator, Chris Sabian (Kevin Spacey) involved, thinking he can buy time and at the same time save his own life. Chris’s attempts to achieve a peaceful ending are repeatedly interrupted by outside authorities. Now Chris and Danny have to work together.

 JOKERS
Since everyone is having such a good time,

 EXCEPT during the Olympics
when other events will be happening.

 OLYMPIC WATER VOLLEYBALL

There are still plenty of spaces available to sign up
(in JAKZ) for Olympics water volleyball.
However, the cut-off to sign up for CO-ED
will be Wednesday, February 23.

There are still no volunteers to be team captains for co-ed, women's or men's. The main role of the team captain is to participate in a player draft prior to the event. Please indicate on the sign-up sheet if you are willing to be a captain - otherwise team selection will be determined through an edict from the volleyball czar.
And there are still some ladies out there who have not asked a man to be their team-mate for the 2-on-2 volleyball. Consequently there are some forlorn, lonely males wandering the park.

So ladies, please hook-up, sign-up and come out to play!

Another BIG Weekend!

Another PIP of a SandPeep weekend is coming.
First, Saturday, is the long awaited, much rehearsed musical, Mamma Mia!
There may be a few seats left for the afternoon showing.
I can't encourage you enough to go!
If you have half as much fun watching as the cast did rehearsing, you are in for a treat!
Tickets are complimentary but necessary.
Go see Karen or Bill, #434

Then...
Sunday
Art in the Park!
We can be just as hoity-toity as the best of 'em!
There will be wine...
there will be cheese...
there will be art....
Be still my heart!
*
Sunday afternoon, at 3:30, saunter over to the pavilion
(and outside, on the grass if the weather cooperates)
to get you some culture.
Hold up your pinkie as you guzzle the wine and munch the cheese and ooh and ahh over the talents of your friends and neighbors.
There will be
 Paintings...

Quilts...

Precious collections of all kinds...

Jewels...
Impressive hobbies displayed...
If you want to get in on the fun of showing off your talents and/or hobbies and/or collections...go see Sue R. #36 or Nancy #212.

Who wants to be a MILLIONAIRE!?!?!?

Steve V. (Lot 423), of long distance, bike riding fame,

 will be purchasing lottery tickets
(most likely the winning one, he believes)
 for this Wednesday's POWERBALL drawing.

If you would like an opportunity to share in the Jackpot
(which he believes he will win),
you will need to contribute at least $2.00
and make sure your name is on the
 Master List of potential Millionaires.

The deadline for purchasing your ticket is
Tuesday, Feb 14th, 10:00PM.
