What's Your Fondest Wish?

What do you wish for Sandpipers? No boundaries, money no object!
In your daydreams, what would you like to see here.
I have asked a few people their heart's desire and dredged up a few of my own.
This is a wish list, practical or not, expected or not.
Let your imagination soar...for instance Jim, when asked, mentioned he'd like Karen to build an air conditioned dome over the whole park, but that was just summer sweat talking.
*
I know up there on many lists is a dedicated volleyball pool,
and that is promised in the near future. Along the same lines is a bigger pool deck with more landscaping, i.e. planting more palms against the day when a hurricane takes down the mature ones we have now.
Ooohhh...I have one. A garden staff.
And the butterfly garden to magically grow lush, with a path and benches.
(We are working on that, but I'm an instant gratification kind of girl--gets me in trouble)How about a resident's wood shop?
And a craft workshop for everything from sewing and quilting, to painting, to pottery workshops.
And a sauna by the new hot tub....

Individual fenced plots for growing vegetables, with a compost heap, potting area, and a WOOD CHIPPER to recycle all the branches we pay to have hauled away.

And a trash can by the mail boxes....That I would dearly love! And since this is a place to dream big wishes,
how about closed circuit TV with announcements made every morning,
then played on a loop throughout the day.
Performances could be played on the loop too.
Like they do on cruise ships.
Probably cost an arm and a leg, but hey!
We are dreaming big dreams here! And a shady, fenced in dog play park with benches for people to sit and watch their dogs run free. Pooper scooper's off to the side.Oh and heck, why not? A cafe! So, have I tweaked your interest?
What would you like to see?
What have you experienced at other parks and resorts that may work here?
Don't be shy. Enter your comments. Karen does read them and if she doesn't know what we want or expect, how can she deliver?
It may be wishful thinking....but you never know.
So comment!

The baby boomers will start retiring this year if the economy gets better. This is a younger group of folks who will want to have fun, who are still competitive and who want to be busy and active and stay up past 9 or 10 pm. We have to change with the flow. We have to be willing to change and grow.

I would like to see a volleyball pool where we could have regulation volleyball that is much more competitive. Even though everyone loves jungle ball, the improvement in players has skyrocketed and it is time for over 1/2 the folks be a little more challenged. Spinner balls and fast hard serves that nearly knock your head off in jungle ball is crazy. The folks that play jungle ball do it for fun but it may not be the most appropriate place for some of the slamming. That is why if you look at the level of play, you will see that you still need balance. Younger folks are comming in and still like a little competition.

I would like to see a game room with pool tables and a table shuffle=board and darts. A card room, so that poker and movie night could exist on the same night. A craft and sewing room. (Then more people might participate in quilt making for the poor at Christmas). A wood shop. A gym.8 washer and dryers especially in the winter.

I would also like to see an activities department. One where not only where there are skits and stuff made up, but one where special trips as a group could be found. Or one that would vary things. Year-after-year there needs to be new things created.

More dances. dances that start at 8-8:30 and last till mid-night. It seems at ten the sidewalks are rolled up.
Also, evening happy hours after
dinner.

Wow I got so excited, I forgot to wish for a windmill water source that you pay for and ice year round. Most of us do not have a lot of extra space and trying to buy a weeks supply of ice is difficult because our freezers are only so big.

Would like to see a bike and walking trail where we could ride bicycles without a speed limit. Something around the perimeter of the park or greater in distance would be nice.

The idea of a recreation room with a pool table is good, I would add a ping pong table also.

I would like to see a section of the park where homes more permanent than mobiles could be built, perhaps an annex to the park with more residential style housing.

Some shaded area poolside would be nice for those who can't be in the direct sun. Have you noticed the number of people crowded in the pavilion during water volleyball competitions?

A gazebo near the tennis, horseshoes and petanque courts have been suggested and I understand that there may be a storage area for tennis, petanque and horseshoes equipment also.

Bike racks for non-standard bicycles! A hitching rail for horses! A rental car or loaner for fly in guests in the apartments and those who have class B or C campers and no toad.

Separate mini-ten courts. Some par 3 golf holes. A putting green. You did say to go for it didn't you???

You forgot a landing strip for those with airplanes.
A dark room.
A brewhouse.
Oh, and Sue P and I request a herd of goats to satisfy our long held dream of artisan cheese making.

Hey I like all of those wishes, plus shuffleboard courts with sun protection. Sun protection for the new volleyball pool would be great. A couple pool tables also. An emergency phone by the pool.
The list could go on and on.

What would be REALLY nice is a wood dance floor (like at Nature's) for us twinkle-toed types to tip-toe & glide our way across the room!

More pie-in-the-sky? How about Mini-golf (with obstacles & loops & bends & the like out in the field? A games room (poool, ping pong, darts, air hockey, foosball, etc) could be nice on cool days.

And what the hell, how about a wave pool for surfing (board or body), complete with a sandy beach for beach volleyball? That would attract a younger crowd (but do we really want ankle-biters - that is a topic for another debate). Or a fishing pond stocked with bass or trout for those who like nude fishing? Maybe we should buy all the property between the resort and the reservoir and we could have one already?

And the idea of a goat herd is great - it would cut down on lawn maintenance, provide free fertilizer for the butterfly garden, and they are so cute (and tasty). Which reminds me - how about a bigger barbeque area, and maybe a barbeque pit for luau's??

I better stop or the rent will be a zilion $ per year! Mostly we love Sandpipers for the people and the weather - the two things we don't want to change!

And one more thing - green cards so us canucks can stay all the time instead of having to endure these 6 months of poor sledding and of the water dripping from the roof of our igloos eh!

I noticed that Ron and Gloria have a small trailer for sale. How about SPR buying (and storing it), but allowing residents to use it to haul our broken golf carts or pick up new furniture, etc. Maybe even haul in a kiln for park use. . .

How about a bistro and lounge with nice live jazz?

For Movie Nights, I'd like to have couches in the Community Room for all of us "couch potatoes".

For the non-sun worshipers, more shady spots around the pool would be great, too.

For our dances, we need a space with a "nightclub atmosphere". People like to dance in an area that is more intimate--darker and a little crowded.

An editorial comment: I know lots of the "older folks" here who still want to have fun and be competitive.

Since we are going crazy with this, how about a lazy river running throught the park with water flowing all the time so we could just grab our inner tubes and step into the water and float to wherever we wanted to go in the park. Golf carts could be a thing of the past.
Another idea
