Think of all the ways we use fire....cooking, inside and outside, candles

Jeesh, think of the number of candles on most of our cakes....

Most of us have one or more extinguishers in our homes & vehicles.

If we own an RV, an extinguisher or two came with it.

They can be very effective at stopping fires in the early stages if applied correctly.

Typically however, once we’ve acquired them, and perhaps read the instruction

card that came with the extinguisher, we tend to “file & forget” the details.

Unlike first aid & CPR training, it’s pretty difficult to obtain any extinguisher training, let alone have the opportunity to actually use one to extinguish a fire in a supervised training exercise.

Accordingly, Jay & Karen are sponsoring just such an opportunity on Wednesday, March 11th here at Sandpipers Resort.

We will be conducting a live-fire extinguisher training class here on our grounds.

The Edinburg Fire Department will be conducting the training, and a local fire extinguisher company will “rent” us the extinguishers to use.

Karen & Jay will fund this really exceptional opportunity, & we urge everyone to attend. Approximately 20 of us will be able to extinguish a controlled fire.

Whether we are the one using the extinguisher, or simply observing, it will be hugely

It's all contingent on wind & weather; if the 11th is a red flag or no burn day, we will have to abort.

Rescheduling from a practical point will be Nov or Dec. probably.
