Christmas, Soup Night, Quilting

John and I met with the school liaison on Monday and we will be making Christmas Merry for 4 families this year.

 We have 14 children and one on the way and 8 adults.

Besides perishable and nonperishable food items some families are asking for donations of the following items: fridge, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, one double bed and one twin bed.

There is a need for clean adult clothing as well.

If you are replacing any of the above items and want to put them to good use, we know the families that would certainly appreciate receiving them.

The quilting gals will be meeting on

 Monday, November 7th @9am to 11:30 am in Jakz's.

We will be looking at how many quilts we need for our families

and deciding if we need to make more.

If time permits we can play with the quilting fabrics that we have to share ideas as to what we can make for next year.

 Come join us on Monday and give us your input.

 Soup Nights

are once again returning to Sandpipers

for the 2011/2012 season.

The schedule for this year’s soup nights is as follows:

Tuesday, October 11

Tuesday, November 8th

Tuesday, December 13th

Tuesday, January 10th

Tuesday, February 7th

Tuesday, March 13th

$5 Donation

2 kinds of Soup

Bread and crackers and Dessert

BYOB, Dishes and utensils will be provided.

We are looking for volunteers to make soup or desserts for the Tuesday, October 11th as well as the scheduled soup nights.

 See above dates.

We would like to have two soups, however it will be entirely up to the person making the soup as to what they would like to provide.

February Soup Night

February Soup Night

Doesn’t a bowl of steaming hot soup sound wonderful right now? You missed your chance this past Tuesday, but will get another opportunity on Tuesday, March 15.

 Here’s what you missed in Feb.

A smiling Phaleta greeted you and took your
 $5 donation for Adopt-A-Family.

Pam (with a hungry Bill) made Polish Pork and Potato Soup (the secret ingredient was dill pickles if you hadn’t guessed).

Barb (with a helpful John who took over serving duties) made Italian Wedding Soup.

Mary and Jocelyne made two kinds of desserts –
 date squares and Ninamo bars.

All reports were that everything was delicious!
