SPNO News - March 24th - Final Report

Good Afternoon Group.
The Olympic Flag is down and folded, the Olympic Rings are put away, Mike has his Olympic Torch back in his room and The Sandpipers 17th Nude Olympic is in the record books.  There were 101 different Athletes who took part.  307 Medals were awarded.  In all there were 1001 entries into the T-Shirt Raffle.  Everything from Air Hockey to Z-Field events.  What a great one is was.  So many things made this year a special time.
Thanks to everyone who had even a small part in the event.
Thanks to Steve for his radio announcements, to Sue Z for her blog entries.  Thanks to Karen and Jay for their support.  Thanks to Jon and Donna, Jim and Cindy, Randy and Sue, Bruce and Sue, Frankie, Elsie, Irwin and Margaret and Paul and Judy for being such a good Olympic Committee.  Now thanks to all the event hosts this year.  You all did a wonderful job and took care of the tasks at hand.  Everything went off smoothly and without a hitch.  The weather tried a couple of times to keep us down but we made it through.  Thanks to Mike for leading the Parade.  If we forget anyone please, please know your efforts were appreciated.  Thanks to those who entered the Meatball Cook-off, it really was a great success.
Now for some news.  Carma and myself have been asked to take care of the 18th Sandpipers Nude Olympics and we have decided we are up for another year.  So save the dates, March 22nd - March 29th, 2017.
Next item.  Some have asked if the Sandpipers Nude Olympic T-Shirts were for sale.  After taking this question to Karen she has agreed to get some more and make them available for sale.  She needs to know by tomorrow, Friday March 25th by 5PM who wants them and the size they need, so get with the office to place your order if you want one.
This event is such a pleasure to host for Carma and myself because of everyone here at Sandpipers that are willing to help.  From blowing up balloons to filling balloons with water.  You folks make this event happen and Carma and I want to say thank you so much for your help and kind words of encouragement.
Finally to everyone here at Sandpipers we hope that the next year will be a great one for all of you.  We hope your health remains good and if you are traveling back home or doing any summer traveling, please have a safe journey so we can see everyone back next season.
Sincerely,
Carma and Bob

SPNO News - March 20th

Good Morning Group.
Last night's Pub Nite was nothing but fun, fun, fun.  Thanks to Jim and Nancy for hosting the Bean Bag Toss and to Ed and Claudia for hosting the Cup Stacking and to Richie and Barb for taking care of the Washer Toss and finally to Jim and Wendy for doing a great job with the Charmin Plunge.  A special thank you to Charlie and Peggy for being great bartenders, they always make sure your glass if full.  Lou and Alma hosted the Water Balloon Toss and made sure everyone had a chance get wet.  Thank you Lou and Alma.  The Iron Peeps had so many helpers, thanks to everyone who participated and helped.

Sunday, March 20th Schedule
There is one little change.  The Wet T-Shirt Relay is going to start at 2 PM instead of 3 PM so find a partner and be at the pool by 2 PM.  The Shark and Friends will start after the Wet T-shirt Relay is over, so probably by 2:30 PM.  The Blind Beach Volleyball is still starting at 1:30 PM.  You will need a team of 4, but if you do not have a team, you will be put together to make a team.  This is an easy event and everyone can play.
Also remember that from 2-3 PM in the Pavilion, Barb will be hosting a Root Beer Float Party and Elsie will be furnishing goodies to go along with the Floats.  Thank you Barb and Elsie for doing that.

SPNO News - March 18th

Good Morning Group.
WOW.  That sums up Thursday.  The biggest turnout ever for the events.  The Ladder Toss at the 400 Row Happy Hour was a great success, thanks to Randy and Sue for that one.  The field events had so many folks helping and chasing balls/Frisbees that all we can say is THANK YOU to everyone who helped.  Everyone who showed up and took part had a lot of fun.  The Golf Cart Gymkhana was watched by a record crowd and we did not hear of any marital disputes that ended in violence.  Well done Jim and Jon, thanks to you both.  The Pickle Ball Round 1 was handled nicely by Alma and Lou, great job and Round 2 will be Saturday at 9 AM at the Tennis Court.

Today, March 18 all the events will be at Jakz and they start at 6:30 PM so please be on time to sign up.  The turnouts to the events have been larger than expected so if you have to wait to play, we are sorry but the event hosts and hostess will do their best to keep things moving.  All the events need no early sign ups but you must have your name on the list to play by 7 PM. So get there no later than 7 PM and put your name on the list.  The events are Wii Bowling, Air Hockey and Pool Shots.  Because the Pool table is not resort owned, the owner is asking that anyone who wants to play Pool Shots be sane and sober and has some prior experience so as not to damage the equipment.

OK, now some schedule changes.
Pickle Ball Round 2 is scheduled for Saturday 9 AM at the Tennis Court.
Iron Peeps has been moved up to 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 19th.
Decathlon Event had been cancelled.Weather could be an issue on Saturday and Sunday, but as now everything is going to go on.
There is still room for a couple more Meatball cookers.  Get with Carma for more information concerning that event.

Have a great day and PLAY NAKED

SPNO News - March 17

Good Morning Group and Happy St. Patty's Day.

What a great start to the 17th Sandpipers Nude Olympiad.  A special thanks to all the Event Hosts.  Tom and Betty took care of Shot Putt, Paul and Judy did a great job with the Ritz Challenge, Loretta and Gail hosted the Lemon Roll, Jim and Nancy took care of the Horseshoes and the Committee all helped with the Softball Throw.  Thanks to all of you.  The Opening Ceremony was well attended and Mike led the Parade of Flags and carried the Nude Olympic Torch and did a wonderful job as always.  Thanks to Erwin and Margret for running the 50/50 drawing.

Thursday, March 17 will be another great day.
The weather looks good for the Z Field events.
Golf Cart Gymkhana starts at 10:30AM.  You can use your own golf cart, or one will be provided.  The Softball Toss, the Football Toss and the Frisbee Toss all start at Noon, also at the Z Field.  At 2PM, Lou and Alma will get the Pickle Ball Tournament started with Round 1 at the Tennis Courts. Then somewhere on the 400 Row the Ladder Toss will start at 4PM.  Somehow Happy Hour and throwing things just sound like a lot of fun, so bring a chair and something to drink and watch the fun.

One schedule change.  The Pickle Ball Tournament is going to take 2 days as there are so many players, so Round 2 will be played on Saturday, March 19th at 9AM at the Tennis Court.

Thursday evening is a St. Patty's Day Pub Nite.  It has nothing to do with the SPNO but there will be games set up so if you want to practice you skills.

Last item is the Meatball Cook-off.  If you would like to enter your favorite meatball recipe and win a cash prize get with Carma at 308 for all the details.  If there are more than 10 entries, then there will be a drawing to see which 10 will participate.  There is a $10 reimbursement for those who actually turn in a entry.

Also a special thanks to Sue Z and her blog.  I have had many comments that folks view her blog every day to find out what is going on, and she always gets it done.  And finally another big thanks you to Steve and his KNude radio station.  He and Karon are always right on top of changes and keeping everyone here at Sandpipers up to date.  Steve wants to let everyone know that he has the station up and running better than before so please listen to KNude 92.1 FM for all the latest news and SPNO updates.

Have another great day and PLAY NAKED.

Bicycle Rides

Please remove the Bicycle Ride that is
on the calendar on March 22.
That ride should have been canceled before.
 We went to Laguna Atascosa
several weeks ago and the scenic loop at the wildlife refuge is now
closed for repairs.

There is one remaining bicycle ride on the schedule
on April 5 and that too will have to be canceled as
Louise and I will be out of town.

There should be no remaining bicycle rides for the spring
of 2016.

SPNO News for Friday

Good Morning Everyone.
One Schedule change on Sunday, March 13th.
The start time for the Dart tournament has been moved up one hour to 1PM.  If there is a good turnout, this could be a long tournament so if you get there and sign up you will have a better idea on when it will be your time to play.
That is why the decision was made to move it up one hour.

Also the sign up sheet for Co-Ed Water Volleyball is still up at Site 308.  The deadline is 4PM today.
If for some reason you need to take you name off,
please do so before 4PM today.

One last note.  Wednesday is the Opening and also a Super Happy Hour at the Pavilion.  Please remember that this is finger food only, nothing that needs forks or spoons.  Plates and napkins are the only thing that is provided.  Electricity is not available so no crock pots or warming trays.

All the events and schedules will be in a binder at Site 308.
All sign up sheets will be on the table at Site 308.   Most events will not have advanced sign up, all you need to do is show up at the event and play.  Only events that need to have teams made up ahead of time will have sign up sheets.
The ending times listed are approximate and when the event coordinator determines that all players have had a chance to play and no one is waiting to play, they will close the event, so please show up when the event starts.
No late sign up for Shuffleboard.  This is a long event and hard to work in any late comers.  So please sign up by 4PM on March 19th at Site 308.
Please make sure if you sign up for an event that you will be able to attend.  If you are not sure you will be able to play then it is just fine if you wait to the last minute to sign up.  It is hard to plan an event and work up teams and then not have someone show up.
If you have signed up for an event, please be there on time and ready to play.  If you show up late it might mean your team will be disqualified.
The outside events will be weather dependent and might have to be rescheduled or cancelled.
Daily notes and updates will be emailed to the email group on a daily basis.
The events for the Decathlon this year are:  Petanque Skills, Shot Put, Ladder Toss, Frisbee Toss, Wii Bowling, Softball Toss, Cup Stacking, Iron Peeps, Basketball, Football Toss.
