Volley Ball Input Requested.

VOLLEYBALL QUESTIONS

There has been interest expressed in having a more “challenging” form of volleyball to be played a couple of times a month OUTSIDE of the current volleyball schedule. The suggestions vary from a more competitive form of jungle ball (current rules but played ‘to win’) to “regulation rules” volleyball to smaller teams (2 on 2 or some other variation), or some combination or permutation.

As the co-ordinator (czar) I am looking for input, and specifically for answers to the following questions:

- How many people would be interested in some form of more “challenging” volleyball?

- What kind of volleyball would you like to play?

- What day of the week works best for you, and how often should this alternative be available?

- Any other comments?

Please post your comment on the blog,
on the Sandy Pipers Friends site on Facebook,
or directly to Ian or Terry at Lot 502.
Please post your name with your comments – input from “anonymous” has little credibility.
When enough input has been received, a decision will be made and implemented.

Zumba!

ZUMBA!

The Zumba program is a Latin-inspired dance and fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music, creating
 a dynamic,
exciting,
exhilarating,
 and effective
fitness system that's so much fun its like a party!

Classes will be
Monday & Friday at 9 AM,
 Wednesday at 10 Am,
in the pavilion, beginning Dec. 5th.

A Zumba class creates a party-like atmosphere that provides a non-intimidating opportunity for non-dancers, new exercisers, or those who have previously hesitated to participate in group classes.  The cardio-based dance movements are easy-to-follow steps that include body sculpting, which targets areas such as gluteus, legs, arms, core, abdominals and the most important muscle in the body-the heart.

Zumba classes are for both men and women.

*Wear loose exercise clothing-or nothing at all.
*Wear comfortable exercise sneakers.
*Bring water and a towel.
*To have even more fun...ladies wear your coin belt.

Bike Route Change for Nov. 29

Due to continuing construction at
Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge,
bicycles can not ride the usual loop through the park.
As a result, we are changing the bike ride
 for Tuesday, November 29.

We will ride from the park
to the Museum of South Texas History
at 200 N Closner Blvd. in Edinburg.

This is approximately 7.5 miles one way,
 a 15 mile round trip.
The museum opens at 10:00 a.m. so we will be able
to leave at our usual 9:00 a.m. time and ride at a comfortable pace
arriving before the museum opens.

We will be riding Seminary Road to FM
2812 and will then ride the
Hwy 281 access road which becomes Closner Blvd.

As this is a road ride and some riders are not comfortable with
this ride, at least one car, perhaps more will leave the gate at 9:45
a.m. to join the bikers in touring the museum.
Contact Louise, #44, if you wish to travel by car
 instead of riding a bicycle.
Following our visit to the museum
we will have lunch at Habaneras Restaurant
across the street from the museum.
Those who wish to continue the museum visit
after lunch are welcome to return to the museum.

Bike riders will return by the same route as above.
Non-bicycle riders are welcome on any of our trips.
If you haven't been to this museum, this is a good
opportunity to visit
and learn something about the history of this area.

A classic heist movie starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron and Edward Norton. Charlie Croker is the new guy in charge of a group of theft experts including Steve, Handsome Rob, Left-ear, Lyle, and John Bridger. Bridger used to be in charge of the group but has retired, but he joins the group for 'the Italian job', where they plan to steal $20 million in gold bullion. The plans goes off flawlessly, until Steve double crosses them, killing Bridger and leaving the rest for dead. About a year later they all regroup and decide to get Steve back, with the help of Bridger's daughter Stella who is their best of hope of cracking Steve's safe. After their first plan is foiled and Steve discovers that they are after him, they decide to steal the money back from him just like 'the Italian job'.
