Olympic SnapShots

While we were laid back, coffee cups in hand and reclining in our chairs,
watching the hilarious antics of the Blindfolded Golf Cart Races...
Love was blooming in the field behind us....Gizmo....Gizmo...is that your lady love over there???It is, it is....
He needs a ladder.
*****
After nearly splitting his sides with laughter, Jay decided to show us how the course should be run...with his trusty side kick by his side he turned in a very respectable time.

And Kathy admonished the entire crowd to shut up!

No marriages were dissolved in this race,
however some sibling relationships may be in jeopardy.
**********************
In case you missed the sad saga of the Dolphin & Shark races...the outcome wasn't pretty.
The results ended in a funeral with many a sad dolphin baby mourning their lost papa.

Here are the results of the chilly Women's Water VolleyBall Games...

Great fun ladies! You all played SUPER!

Women's Self Defense Course
Report from Theresa #118
Four SP ladies attended a women's self defense course
at the Hidalgo County Sheriffs Dept.
They were Flo #4, Bev.# 514, Theresa #118 and Chic #18, and all graduated.
The class was free and was conducted four Tuesday evenings, 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
The deputies showed several easy ways that can make a women a warrior instead of a wimp if she ever has to defend herself in an attack.
It was a great workout also.
The last class they had to defend themselves against these (Redmen) deputies.
Those Redmen were really tough.
They guys took quite a beating.
One had to quit because of an injury he got from one of the ladies.
There were 15 ladies that graduated.
A potluck was held after the graduation, including the deputies.
Everyone said the were glad they took the class and will get together and practice
so they don't forget what they learned.
Next course starts March 2, 2010.
Sign up sheet in Pavilion.

She NEEDS an actual piece of paper with the info on it.

You have until the END OF FEB!

Our Very Own Poster Couple!

The latest from AANR E-bulletin.
Recognize our very own poster couple?
Last week we heard from AANR Government Affairs Team volunteer Shirley Gauthier with report of a story too important not to pass on.

It seems that Shirley and other volunteers from The Willamettans nudist club in Marcola, Oregon, set up a table alongside other participating members of the area chamber of commerce at an annual event held within a local shopping mall. Within minutes of putting up a tasteful "window shade" type display banner, they were asked to take the banner down. Ever diplomatic and cordial, Shirley complied but she did ask why. The reason? Its presence had generated a complaint to mall management.

What triggered the complaint was the words American Association for Nude Recreation, as well as the AANR-Northwest logo that appeared along with very discreet pictures, shots of couples pictured from their shoulders up, plus a 40-something woman crouched behind her dog after enjoying a stroll on a nude beach.

But the story doesn’t end there. As she lowered the banner, Shirley looked directly across the mall corridor from her location into a full-size window promotion for a well-known chain that sells novelty items. The feature items? A corset “trio” complete with garter belt and skimpy bra–modeled on a poster by a woman wearing the getup and little else while grasping the metal pole on a touring bus. Delightfully surprised men look on, and a girlfriend snaps pictures. Oh…plus a few adult “novelties” in a briefcase are also on display.

Ironic, huh?

Admittedly, the store is a rent paying tenant, and the chamber of commerce conducting its trade show was a guest. Hence Shirley’s tactful cooperation (FYI: she did follow up the day’s events with a very well-stated letter to the chamber president.)

But what does it say about current attitudes toward nudity in this country when a banner in which 40-something adults appear where there’s little more than implied simple nudity and it triggers a complaint within minutes? Yet crowds pass novelties, lingerie, or T-shirts bearing crass slogans, offered for sale. And they don’t seem to bat an eye.

From time to time, I am asked, “Why do we even need an AANR?” I hope this story provides another answer. We’ll continue to do what we have done since 1931: advocating for nudity within appropriate settings and educating the public about the wholesome benefits that enjoying nudity offers.

For those who want something else, it appears they’ll have to visit the local mall.

By AANR Executive Director Erich Schuttauf from the February 12 AANR Weekly Report.

Co-Ed WVB Teams & Mardi Gras

*****************************
Mardi Gras at Sandpipers was a huge success!
Joe & Joy outdid themselves with an imaginative venue and interactive entertainment. There was a Mime...
Assorted strangers promoting death and/or pan-handling.
And, of course, your ubiquitous assortment of fortune tellers, bone readers.... and palm readers.
The music was heavenly!
And boy-o-boy, did the peeps DRESS!
in fancy threads...
imaginative paint...perplexing masks....
seductive feathers....
and the colors of the season....
The King & Queen of Mardi Gras were crowned...
and the flirts continued to, well, flirt...

Nice flowers, ladies....

Olympics Begins Friday!

Plan your next couple of weeks accordingly.
If you haven't already, get yourself into the card room (the old exercise room) in front of the pavilion, to sign up for something...anything...everything.
How better to have fun than to participate in the joyous fun we call the Nude Olympics.
*
The festivities officially begin on Friday.
At 3:15 the parade will begin (pavilion area) so wear your past medals, your smiles and your birthday suit (weather permitting, and I think we are gonna finally luck out)...
and wave your flag if you have one.
A flag of your state, country, high school? Make one if you want to.
I just made that up 'cause it's my blog and I can.
*
The parade will be followed by a
Gigantic Olympic Sized International
Super Duper Happy Hour
(pavilion)
BYOB and something to share.
There will be so much food it'll be dinner, so plan accordingly.
*******
On Saturday, Feb 20 will be the Olympic Co-ed Water Volleyball Tournament.
George & Jon will be making yummy
pulled pork sammiches,
with cole slaw
chips
and soda...or as Jon so quaintly calls it, pop.
Plan to partake of the lunch ($5)
and play volleyball (see Jim #38 if you missed signing up) or just watch.
It's a great way to soak up some much needed sunshine.

Monday, February 15, 2010

Don't Forget-It's Fat Tuesday!

There is some confusion about Mardi Gras this year.
Fear not, I will enlighten.
No parade this time.
If you want to catch a bead come to the pavilion.
There will be lots of interactive entertainment...
Fortune tellers,
Voo-Doo-Man,
scantily clad females with loose morals.
Other surprises too shocking to list here, including a funeral.
BYOB and a snack to soak up the alcohol.
A mask or costume of some kind will get you into the running for
King & Queen of Mardi Gras.
See...not confusing...
just come on down to the pavilion at 4 Tuesday and pass a good time, cher.

Wine Appreciation Class and Italian Dinner

Yesterday, Valentine's Day, saw the pairing of Italian wines with a scrumptous dinner.
Bob & Bernie do such a great job educating us on wines,
and the foods with which to appreciate them.
The table set-up was not the usual wine tasting arrangement.
This time the tables were set like an Italian cafe, with bottles of red & white wines on the tables.
Wine...and plenty of it, was offered.Ahhh...more wine.
This Asti was served with dessert.Yummmmm-O!Terrific presentation, as usual.
Thanks B & B...we love you.
