Summer Vacation Pictures

Jim and I spent June and part of July in Southern California, visiting daughter Melinda...then hit Colorado for a visit with son Mike and dil Angie to see their new house.

Had a great time in both places.
Here are a few hi-lights.

Pier at Balboa Island...

The Denver Botanical Garden (one of this country's BEST).

Luckily there was a fabulous display of Dale Chihuly's glass art scattered throughout the gardens.

You may have seen some of his work...the ceiling in the reception area of Bellagio in Las Vegas is one glorious example.

Try imaging colorful glass sparkling in the clear mountain air, a profusion of every flowering plant you've ever heard of as a backdrop.  Simply breathtaking!

Loved our vacation...wine tasting, being touristy, visiting family...but it's great to be home!!!

Meet Mr. Pickles

One of the reasons we have extended our stay in California is to kitty sit while Melinda spends a week in Scotland.
Normally she hires a pet sitter for two visits a day.  She is now putting said pet sitter's children through college.  We thought we'd save her some serious moola so she can go to Scotland and sample scotch.

She has a cat named Pickles, the last of a kitty duo she got right out of college.  He has been with her from Tucson to Phoenix, Atlanta to several apartments and now a house in California.
Here he is as a youngster, around 3 years old.
He has aged....
He is in his 22nd year...
Guinness Book of World Records candidate!
 Still very focused on food.

Loves computers!  And this from a cat who was with Melinda before the invention of digital cameras!
Actually for a 168 year old cat (human years) he is still photogenic...if you don't look in his mouth...no teeth.

Still jumps around on tables and chairs but has given up the top of the refrigerator.
Best thing he does though is sleep.

Here's to you Mr. Pickles....
keep gumming that rib-eye steak.
