Soon-To-Be-Goners Party

It's that time of year.
It happens every Spring.
The Soon-To-Be-Goners are cleaning out their fridges and pantries before departing for the cold, and perhaps snowy, north.
It's time to eat up the goodies,
and we are all invited to share.

It's a Super Duper Happy Hour on the 400 row.
Saturday
4-ish
You know the drill.
Bring your drink and a chair if you intend to sit...and perhaps a nosh to add to the festivities.

Hearts Are Broken!

A short memorial service will be held for Nancy Gifford, Sunday, March 30, at 2:30, at the First Lutheran Church in Edinburg. Following the service there will be a Dessert Party for Nancy in the Fellowship Hall. This is a tribute to Nancy who loved her chocolate and other sweets, and also loved planning parties. Bill would like this to be a time for everyone to get together and share time with each other and their memories of Nancy while they enjoy her favorite foods. If you have a favorite sweet please feel free to bring it.

The location of the services was changed when it became apparent that it is going to be very warm on Sunday afternoon. Pastor Denise had already been asked to officiate and the church offers air conditioning. First Lutheran is located on Sugar Rd. just south of University on the east side of the street. If you have any questions please see Sue Ross, #418.

Nude Olympics 2014 -Final Report

Sandpipers Nude Olympics 2014
Final Report

It's over, but not forgotten.
What a wonderful 8 days of fun and games.
33 events, 249 Medals awarded, countless hugs and kisses.
No divorcees reported and as far as we know no bloodshed.
The 5th wheel at #308 didn't even get egged or tee peed.

Memories that will never be forgotten, like Alma avoiding water balloons, Lou not avoiding water balloons, Jon out running a golf cart, men in panty hose, Marijanne on her tip toes with a roll of toilet paper between her legs, Frankie trying to put on a long sleeve wet t-shirt in the pool, everyone in the hot tub trying to stay warm while waiting their turn in the pool, Cindy almost drowning,
Ken, Bob, Bill and Jim actually trying to play 2 on 2 basketball
 and so many more.

 So much fun.

There were 3 50/50 drawings; Charlie donated his winnings to the Activity Fund, Betty donated her winnings to the Defibrillator Fund, and Irwin donated his winnings half to the Activity Fund and half to the Defibrillator Fund.
Thank you  Charlie, Betty and Irwin.

Next, we want to thank everyone who hosted an event, who helped with all the setup and take-down, who stepped in to help with the events, who brought food for the happy hours, who cooked wings for the wing contest, who came to watch and giggle
and sometimes laugh out loud.

Thank you to everyone who keep the Resort up to date,
 Steve, Karon and Sue Z.

A special thank you to all the Nude Olympic Committee Members; Lou and Alma, Irwin and Margret, Jim and Cindy, Randy and Sue, Frankie and Elsie.  Without your help this would have been a nightmare and there would have been
no way we could have got it all done.

Thanks to Karen and Jay for their help and support and for allowing everyone here to have so much fun.

Finally, to the Nude Olympians who took part in all the events, a big thank you, stand up ovation, pat on the back and congratulation for competing in this the 15th Sandpipers Nude Olympics.

It was a lot of effort and time, but it was so worth it.  Seeing someone on their way up to get a medal with a big smile on their face; to see the pride on faces when they had a long throw, made a good shot, threw a strike or had a great volley; to see the hugs and congratulation handshakes; to witness the teams trying their best and to know that everyone was having fun
made it all worthwhile for us.

So, if all goes well, we will see you again next year at the
 16th Sandpipers Nude Olympics.

 Have a great year.
  Bob and Carma

Here are the results from March 25th and 26th.  Also if you have medals you want to return, there is a box on the bar in the Pavilion until Saturday 5PM.

Bon Voyage Nic!

There will be a cake at the pavilion Saturday night to celebrate our friend Nic's (lot 9) journey to live with his daughter in Washington state...please drop by to wish him well...also please help spread the word that this is happening.
Thanks,

Barb & Lisette

Note from Louise.

Dear Sue, When you find yourself with lemons, make lemonade.

Here is my recipe for making the most of an enforced day of rest, while waiting for RV repairs:

1) take a walk along a river park
  2) sight lots of new birds
3) visit historic buildings filled with little shops
4) sample all the wine, chocolate and cheese you can find
 5) have pizza and beer for supper.

Oh, and did I say--be sure to wear a jaunty hat!

By the way, after our refrigerator died a quick and painless death, the company did right by us.
They met us in a town about 250K down the road
with a newer, slightly bigger and better equipped campervan.

Except for losing two days on the schedule and the work of moving from one home to the next we are in good shape and would not have missed the chance to explore Echuca, Victoria.  A lovely place!

 Missing you all!

Bon Voyage Super Happy Hour Reminder

Bon Voyage Super Happy Hour"?
and just what is that you ask?

This, I answer....

In essence, bring your own drink, your chair
and a finger-food snack to share.

The whole idea is that this is a going away party for
 Bob & Bernie.

Boyoboy, are we gonna miss them!

It will be on Thursday, March 20th,
starting at 4 pm at lot 36.

Golf cart parking will be "nose in" on the empty field across the street. We will gather all of the goodies on Sue & John's porch and when the stomach growlie noises get too loud we'll eat.

Oh Boy! Road Trip!

From Marilynn @ Lot12:
I am organizing a bus trip to the Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass, TX. This will be an overnight trip with a tour company in McAllen leaving on Wednesday 4/16 and returning Thursday 4/17. The bus will come to the park and pick us up and deliver us back here at the end of the trip. Cost is $80 per person which will include your room (double occupancy), $35 free play, and a breakfast coupon for $5. The casino has slots and Texas Holdem poker. You can get more details about the casino and hotel at their website: kickapooluckyeaglecasino.com
If you are interested please let me know by Tuesday 3/25. I will need to collect money from everyone by 3/31. There will be a sign-up sheet on the table on our deck or you may e-mail me at buddyls@swbell.net if you are interested. This should be a lot of fun so we hope you can join us.
Thanks.

From Bill & Nancy.

We would like to bring to your attention something that our youngest son is involved in.
His best friend since grade school was killed
in a very tragic on-duty accident.

Robert  was the first responding officer on scene and was unable to save him.

  This affected the whole department,
so in response some of the officers are riding
in the Police Unity Tour Bike Ride.

Your support would be greatly appreciated.
 (even a small amount)
Please see the following link for information on this worthwhile endeavor:

A letter from Dorothee...

A card was passed around Sandpipers a little while ago for Ekkehard and his upcoming by-pass surgery.  Here is Dorothee's response to Sharon & Dick B....

Hi dear friends,
What a really lovely letter for Ekkehard. When I saw
all the names from our friends and all good wishes I got tears in my eyes.

It was heart breaking.  Please say we thanks and love all of them.
We are over the weekend on our
 campground and clean up.

After Ekkehard's operation he can do
nothing a long time.
On Monday we are home and we can skipe again.

Have a nice weekend.
BEARHUGS!!!
Our love is to you both and Sandpipers, we are
so happy to have you all in our life.
Love,
Dorothee

T-Shirt Class

I've been asked to do a t-shirt class and I've chosen Thursday, March 13th at 10:00 a.m.
on my porch as the date and time.

People who attend should bring:

a t-shirt to practice on,
 scissors if they have some,
and come prepared to work hard!
A notebook would be helpful
if your memory is like mine.

Some idea of what you'd like to learn is mandatory.
If there are too many peeps (more than 10 - 15) we'll do another class sooner rather than later.

Perhaps you could send me an email (with contact info) to acknowledge you'll be attending, then I'll know if I need to hold more than one class.
You can reach me at scpai@sbcglobal.net.
 Thanks, SueP, #37

Bon Voyage Super Happy Hour

 "Bon Voyage Super Happy Hour"?
and just what is that you ask?

This, I answer....

In essence, bring your own drink, your chair and a finger-food snack to share.
