Surprise Party
See how tan we all are?
One of the hi-lites of the evening was a fashion show of some of Tony's more memorable creations, by some of Tony's more fashionable friends.
This photo wasn't them....but it gives you the idea......maybe.
All in all, a magical evening.
Light breeze, mild temps, caged birds twittering in the trees...magical!
To close I'll share the poem I enclosed with the bready gift Jim & I gave him.
(I owe Tony lots of bread 'cause he helped us so much with the landscape project in front of our house...pulling out the bougainvilleas, hauling away rocks, filling in with dirt and sod....I owe him lots of bread.)
Here tis:
Tony, Tony, you're full of baloney.
Oh wait. This is bread.
*
Fred, Fred, you're full of bread,
Oh, wait, you're name is Tony.
Hmmmm....
*
How's this?
Tony, Tony, you're 55,
Thank the Lord you're still alive.
Yes, that rhymes.

This is an easy, once-a-month event...so if you can help talk to Jon #221 or Bill #8.
And speaking of help....

The Hazlett's...still on the road!
Bill and I are still on the road, enjoying our time together before he starts work next week in Dothan, AL.
A few more memories to share from Lake Powell
Sometimes we could not tell up from down...the lake as still as a mirror!
Navigating the narrows to Rainbow Bridge.
Bill and I at Rainbow Bridge, absolutely indescribable.
Our own private beach, surrounded by 400 ft cliffs.
It is noodling time at the Lake, after hiking the beach we needed to cool down.
Then a run to the hot tub to warm up and another day, another happy hour!
Our last sunset, so long to Lake Powell
We have had warm days and cool nights, blue skies and rainbows.
We hope all your travels are filled with great memories. We miss you all, take care, God Bless and we will see you in November.
More Later.

Spanish Class Begins......
The Golfers Amongst Us....
marshals for the LPGA Navistar Golf Classic sponsored by Monaco RV this
week in Prattville, Alabama. Over 100 Monaco Coaches are parked near
the entrance to the course with ours among them. Navistar/Monaco RV
offered this golf tournament and rally at no cost!
We signed up to help with the tournament on Thursday morning as soon as
we found out they still needed volunteers. We start at 6:30 a.m. and
our day ends about 6:30 p.m. For $30 we got a hat, shirt and a chance
to get inside the ropes to assist with the tournament. Bill and Tom
paid an additional $30 to be able to play the tournament course
following the tournament. The Senator at Prattville is part of the
Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
The field was cut to 62 players Thursday evening and the finals are take
place Saturday and Sunday. The highlights of the tournament are being
broadcast on the Golf Channel from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Central Time each
evening with a repeat at 1:00 a.m. There are also news highlights
periodically on the Golf Channel. Look for us, we're the ones with the
signs that say, "Hush Y'all."Our assignments vary daily. So far Bill has been assigned to the 7th
tee while Tom and Louise have assignments on the 12th tee, 9th tee and
green. We've had brief conversations with the ladies and enjoyed
watching some tremendous golfers. I'm sure we'll all be playing much
improved golf this year!
Bill has a signed golf ball from one of the ladies. Tom and Louise are
hoping! We're also playing a version of fantasy golf among ourselves.
So far, Louise has us all beat by a long shot. On Thursday she had the
top three golfers. Thursday she had players at first, second and
tenth. The winner gets $10 from each of the other players (3) and then
buys lunch for everyone at Dairy Queen!

I Has a Bone to Pick Wiff You!
For my dogs I would prefer, no talk, no touch, no eye contact until I give permission. My dogs tend to be excited aggressive.
Here is an explanation from Cesar Milan's book, "How to Raise the Perfect Dog".
Socializing your dog to people should begin from the first moment you arrive at your home. All members of our family or community, need to understand how to greet the dogs and how to share calm-assertive energy. Dogs are not toys but living beings and in order to acclimate them to their environment people need to refrain from showering them with all the affection and excitement people feel. Dogs respond to energy. This community needs to practice no touch, no talk no eye contact. Instead, they should quietly allow the dogs to smell them, then let the primary caretaker give permission when the dog is calm. Dogs need to associate calmness not excitement.
People think: "Oh, she's so mean. We can't play with the dogs." People don't think about what is the best thing for the dog. That's why the shelters are packed. People create a dog that's out of control, then they don't want them anymore.
Coming on too strong to a timid or insecure dog can intimidate them, and such affronts, if repeated can create a dog that is either too shy or fearful or worse, fearfully aggressive. This can lead to a bite, and the tendency to blame the dog for being aggressive. On the other hand, an outgoing, active dog may tempt to play too vigorously, raising the dogs level of excitement to an intensity that may be hard to temper as the get older. It's all about prevention.
Tips to greeting dogs: Turn all of your attention to the owner. No speaking, touching or eye contact to the dogs. Give the dog time to sniff and calm down. Allow the owner to signal when you can do the speaking, touching and looking at the dogs. If folks want to give a treat to your dog, make sure the get the owner's permission. Some dogs have sensitive stomachs and digestive issues. Some folks limit the amount of food their dogs receive to prevent obesity and further health issues. I am proud of my dogs. They are pretty well behaved, but, the bad behaviors can be learned quickly.
I feel with the beginning of the season, that it is important that these tips be shared so no one is offended by an owner trying to train their dog.
Thanks,
Kathie 106
